Project Gorna Koznitsa
It is a project for the development of a sustainable model of
alternative residential care services for the disabled children
and young people living in the institution of Gorna Koznitsa,
implemented by the Cedar Foundation in partnership with
UNICEF, the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, the Agency
for Social Assistance, the State Agency for Child Protection, the
Municipality of Kyustendil, and the Municipality of Bobov Dol.
The IWC is contributing funds towards the salaries and training
of additional caregivers for the institution and the future familytype
homes.
Social Integration of Teenage Orphans
This project, implemented by Star of Hope Foundation, consists
in two programs: preparing the young people of Roman
Orphanage and Kniaz Boris Vocational School for life after the
institution; providing a transition home and assistance for five
orphan teenage girls after they have left the institution. The
IWC funds the training workshops and the social worker of both
programs.
House of Joshua Program
Run by the Trussel Trust, this project aims at setting up 5
transition homes by the end of 2010. The first house is operating
already, near Botevgrad. Each house offers a two year residential
training program for vulnerable young people leaving state
care institutions which provides life skills and vocational training
through employment placements with local employers. The
IWC funds the Development Coordinator who is implementing
the program.
Agapedia "Family Type Home"
The IWC contributes to the running cost of the family-type home
in Ovcha Kupel where 5 orphan children aged between 12 and 15
live in as normal a family environment as possible.
Tabitha Social Sewing Project
This project, implemented by Tabitha Foundation, provides
professional training in sewing skills and vocational courses
in massage and beauty care to girls from Roman and Vratza
orphanages. The girls get a professional diploma at the end of
their training.
Care Leavers Program, Mladen Antonov Orphanage
The IWC supports Amici dei Bambini’s project that develops
opportunities of social, professional and family integration for
the care- leavers of Mladen Antov Orphanage, near Totleben.
Rakitovo Cookery School
This project, overseen by the Rakitovo Self Sufficiency Fund,
in cooperation with the Velingrad Rotary Club and Rakitovo
Municipality, is setting up a cookery school that will provide
cooking skills and employment to socially disadvantaged young
people. The IWC provided funds towards kitchen equipment.
